I realize it has been three full months since I reopened after the fire, however the online mail order catalog is still being upgraded and will remain offline a while longer.  I am sorry for any inconvenience.

See more information about the March 20th greenhouse fire.

"Compots" means community pots.  They contain young seedlings.  You will receive at least three plants (up to five plants) in a 2.5" pot.  Leaf spans will be at least 2.5 inches per plant.  They may be larger, up to 3  or 4 inches in some cases.   Compots and all larger individually potted plants are shipped in pot.

Most of the plants in the above picture (circa Feb 2003) were blooming for the first time and grown from seed.

Please be aware that during or shortly after shipping, Phal buds large enough to show color will often turn yellow, shrivel up and drop off.  This is called bud blast.  They just don't like being packed up tight in a box at this stage.  Usually smaller green buds and open flowers are not effected, although it is hard to pack flowers and buds without damaging them.  Quite often, if bud blast occurs, the spike continues to elongate and produce new buds to replace the ones which drop off.  I will try to ship Phals in spike when possible.  I will avoid shipping plants with buds or bloom if I can help it.

Most customers experienced in mail order orchid buying request that I do NOT ship budded or flowering phals.  Bud blast is not covered under the satisfaction guarantee.  You may request a plant in any stage of flowering you want and if it is available in that stage I will ship it.  If left to my own choice I will fill orders first with spiking plants; i.e. those plants preparing to flower but not yet at the high bud or open flower stage.  If these are not available I will go with non-spiking plants followed by budded and finally flowering plants if these last two are all that is available in the pot size you order.  You are welcome to ask about the flowering status of any plant when you order.
