The parents of Phal. Misty Baby &#8216;Leesburg&#8217; are (Phal Bamboo Baby x Phal Misty Green) These are huge flat flowers with a hint of green.  One of my favorites and I always thought it deserved an award, but alas the judges (at least one) thought otherwise with sufficient force to convince the others in the group that scoring it would not produce an awardable average score.  Alas, it has recently died after almost a decade in the red tag section of my greenhouse collection.  There are several stemprops circulating among orchid collectors&#8230;. hint hint&#8230;</p>

		<description><![CDATA[The parents are (Micro Nova x equestris var. alba).  All the other offspring in this grex that I saw bloom had anthocyanin pigments in the lip that masked the yellow.  Not only is &#8216;Lemon Lip&#8217; missing these pigments it is partially peloric; the yellow from the lip shows up in the petals.]]></description>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="ngg-singlepic ngg-left" src="http://www.orchidexchange.com/wordpress2/wp-content/gallery/phal_species/0455.jpg" alt="DPE0455 Phal. javanica" />A very interesting little species.  Starts blooming on small plants with spikes that are hidden under the leaves.  Spikes persist for many years and grow longer each flowering season and eventually hang in nice displays below the leaves.  The spikes are geotropic.  They grow straight toward the ground no matter which way the plant is oriented so plants grown in pots send spikes straight into the potting media.  So keep an eye on them if you won one and train the spikes to grow out and over the pots.  For this reason, these are a little bit easier to deal with if grown mounted and hung on a wall.</p>
