The tag reads P. Green Pixie "Ever Green". And they are clearly clones of a well selected cultivar. This one actually has a 'cultivar name' even if it is enclosed in "regular" quote marks. Sadly there is no such registered Grex called Phal Green Pixie. There is one registered as Phal I-Lan Green Pixie (Phalaenopsis Su-An Cricket x Phalaenopsis Timothy Christopher) and the plant in this picture looks a lot like I would expect a very nice clonable sibling of this cross to look like. But that is just a guess on my part. There is also an I-Lan Green Apple and an I-Lan Green Jewel to consider but if it is one of these three, then it is probably the one with Timothy Christopher as the daddy.

When I hold this flower up next to Phal Sunrise Star, my eye does not detect a difference in shade between it and the older flowers on Sunrise star. In my humble opinion, it is green only because the name makes my brain expect to see it. Still, it is a nice nearly concolor yellow multifloral.

The plants and spikes are nearly identical on all of them. They have multiple branching spikes with 6 cm flowers.

As always, if you found this plant in my red tag journal, it is only available for sale by mail order if it is in the mail order catalog. It is tag number DPE2579.

The tag reads "P. Sunrise Star." There is no cultivar name, but they are identical, so they must be clones. Orchidwiz has an entry for a plant it calls: Dtps Sunrise Star (Dtps Chia Lin x Dtps Tinny Honey). It is registered by Sunrise biotech with the RHS. Nice bright yellow flower with a solid red lip. There is a little fading of the yellow pigment in older flowers. Got about a dozen of these right now. As of this writing (03/4/10), these are not shippable because they are in full bud and bloom. If there are any left later in the year after the flowering season they will show up in my catalog using the tag number DPE2582.

They have been coming out of Taiwan by the boatload for about 2 years. Because it is very nice and lacking a cultivar name I suspect that judges in different places may even award it several different times. But that's just a guess. Natural spread is about 11 cm. It is not possible to ship these right now (february 2010) , but they should turn up on the mail order catalog after the current flowering season is done. Search the catalog using the name or the tag number 2548 to see if there are any currently for sale. Of course, these and many other nice Phals are here at the greenhouse right this very minute for walk in customers.

Honestly I don’t know how people miss this entrance and instead go to the front door of my home to knock and/or go around back and stand outside the greenhouse and shout “Hello”.

The bear’s name is Greeter Seinbert. I think he may be Scandinavian or maybe French. Ignore him. He doesn’t bite. And as many of you are undoubtedly aware he does not answer questions either. The door he is standing beside on non-rainy days is the door you are looking for. Greeter Seinbert may or may not be holding a large sign. When the ground is not frozen, the sign is out by the street near the mailbox with our address. The door is marked OPEN. I would say “you can’t miss it,” but people do. It is unlocked and it is okay to just walk in. A loud bell will ring when you do and if I am anywhere on the planet I will come out. In the mean time, it is okay to explore the greenhouse. Don’t climb any ladders, don’t trip on any hoses. Keep your eyes open for tree frogs.

I am posting this video of my greenhouse as a test. It is probably too long in "youtube" time; about 1:40 seconds. It is a quick walkthough of my greenhouse this evening as the sun was going down.

I embedded the file in this website page and called it with a link. It really lives on my facebook page. Yes. I am on facebook now that it is "so five years ago."
