DPE0455 Phal. javanica
A very interesting little species. Starts blooming on small plants with spikes that are hidden under the leaves. Spikes persist for many years and grow longer each flowering season and eventually hang in nice displays below the leaves. The spikes are geotropic. They grow straight toward the ground no matter which way the plant is oriented so plants grown in pots send spikes straight into the potting media. So keep an eye on them if you won one and train the spikes to grow out and over the pots. For this reason, these are a little bit easier to deal with if grown mounted and hung on a wall.
